About us

The family farm

Grasslands was formed in 1981 when farmer, Peter Baxter, astutely identified an opportunity to take advantage of his prime location amid what is widely considered to be the region’s premier turf growing area and diversify from mainstream agriculture. Following Peter’s retirement, his son Simon, who has worked with his father in the family business for the past 30 years, now manages the company, with the support of a full-time team of 35.

All our turf is grown to the highest possible ecological standards. At Grasslands, we are PROUDLY PLASTIC FREE.

Our turf is matured over a longer period without the use of environmentally harmful plastic webbing, unlike many growers. Our wildflower range is field-grown, eliminating the need for acres of single-use plastic as a separation layer.
